Description: The pay range is $69,000.00 - $124,200.00

Working within Tax, your mission will be to drive value-added work and support our core retail business goals. Our tax team focuses on all aspects of tax reporting including enhancing productivity and efficiency of core compliance through process and technology, monitoring tax risk and opportunities across all tax disciplines, engaging and educating Finance and the broader organization regarding tax considerations, and prioritizing team resources to support key work streams.

As a Senior Analyst, Tax Technology, you will play a key role in optimizing tax operations, compliance, and processes through the application of innovative technology solutions. You will collaborate with Tax, Tech, Product, and other cross-functional teams to drive alignment and achieve shared objectives. Additionally, you will implement and maintain strategies to enhance tax system configurations, improve data management, and streamline process automation.

In this role, you will utilize your technical expertise, analytical skills, and collaborative mindset to execute on strategic priorities. You will also have the opportunity to design and develop workflows using tools like Alteryx, and apply cutting-edge solutions, including generative AI and machine learning, to enhance tax compliance and reporting processes.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Drive initiatives to analyze and optimize item classification processes to maintain accurate tax treatment.

  • Perform regular reviews to ensure tax rate updates and item tax adjustments are accurately implemented and validated within the tax calculation engine.

  • Collect, manage, and prepare data for integration into tax return software, ensuring alignment with Sales and Use Tax (SUT) compliance requirements while enhancing operational efficiency.

  • Design and implement Alteryx workflows to streamline tax processes and improve analytics capabilities.

  • Apply innovative solutions - including generative AI, machine learning, and RPA - to automate repetitive tasks and enhance accuracy in tax reporting.

  • Act as a liaison between Tax, Product, and Tech teams, ensuring smooth project execution and alignment with organizational goals.

  • Lead the testing and validation of tax system updates and integrations to ensure seamless operation and compliance.

  • Leverage data visualization tools to deliver actionable insights and support decision-making.

About you:

  • Four-year degree in Information Technology, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in indirect tax technology or a similar field.

  • In-depth knowledge of Sales and Use Tax regulations and systems.

  • Proficiency with tax technology tools and applications - including Vertex O-Series, Vertex Returns, Alteryx, SQL, and RPA - with experience in using these tools to streamline tax compliance, automate workflows, and enhance data accuracy and reporting.

  • Strong skills in data analytics, insights, and visualization tools (e.g., Domo, Tableau, Power BI).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex tax concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Analytical mindset with a strong controls orientation and attention to detail.

  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Familiarity with machine learning, generative AI and statistical modeling is a plus.

  • Background in process automation and optimization initiatives.
