ALL ABOUT ASSETS PROTECTION
The job of Assets Protection (AP) teams is to keep our guests, team and brand safe and secure and lead through crisis events. They protect profitable sales by mitigating shortage risks, preventing, investigating and resolving theft and fraud to ensure product is available for our guest.

- Creating and managing a safe and secure culture, including crisis response, a strong safety environment and crowd-management planning and providing support to both guests and team members
- Creating strategic AP goals and strategies and delivering results through your team
- Identifying and developing strategic resolutions of external theft and fraud and apprehending individuals attempting to cause a loss consistent with Target policy
- Managing teams responsible for conducting internal investigations, from identification through resolution
- Recruiting, selecting and talent management of hourly team members and leaders
As Executive Team Leader - Assets Protection, no two days are ever the same, but a typical day most likely will include the following responsibilities:
- Establish, manage, influence and validate a safe and secure culture by driving and improving physical security and safety processes
- Lead store response to emergency and crisis situations and develop safe and secure plans for in-store events
- Educate store leaders and teams on emergency preparedness and physical security procedures
- Identify shortage risks in key divisions and develop strategies and tactics to reduce shortage and drive profitable sales
- Drive total store sales and increase profitability by ensuring product is in stock and available to our guests
- Guide AP team leaders in your district/market on strategies to execute company initiatives
- Plan and lead investigative and verbal de-escalation classroom trainings; identify, plan and facilitate other trainings as needed for your AP team, store or district
- Maintain all required training for you and your store
- Manage identification and resolution of internal investigations including conducting internal interviews for your store and nearby stores in partnership with your leader
- Anticipate and identify theft and shortage trends in your store and develop proactive strategies to prevent shortage and theft
- Determine operational shortage priorities for store; educate and influence store teams on these priorities
- Manage prevention, identification and resolution of external theft incidents and investigations
- Work a schedule that aligns to guest and business needs, based on safe and secure and theft patterns (this includes early morning/overnight shifts, evening and weekends)
- Build partnerships that allow you to identify market trends and competition strategies
- Leverage guest insights and feedback to drive the business and be the destination of choice for our guests
- Build a close partnership with Store Director
- Develop, schedule and deploy resources based on analysis of safe and secure and theft trends in your unique location
- Plan, lead and follow up on organizational and operational changes
- Establish and maintain a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management
- Anticipate short-term and long-term staffing needs and manage talent planning and recruitment
- Support the onboarding and development of AP Team Leaders in your district/market
- Develop, coach and lead your team members and Team Leaders (if applicable) to elevate their skills and expertise
- Train team members to apply merchandise protection and audit execution
- Create, communicate, influence and educate AP priorities (including shortage priorities) to your team, peers and store teams
- Create and model the safety culture in store by recognizing safe behaviors and identifying and resolving safety hazards and unsafe behaviors
- Investigate and analyze injuries to determine root cause and resolve through appropriate action plans and partnerships
- Create and lead a safety advocacy culture by understanding how safety impacts your role and that of your team, identifying and correcting hazards in partnership with appropriate business leaders, and holding team accountable to working in a safe manner to benefit themselves and others
- As needed, act as first responder for in-store incidents (e.g., security, weather, etc.)
- Create and lead a culture of executing all best practices as outlined with team onboarding and learning; help close skill gaps through development, coaching and team interactions
- Train your team to provide service and a shopping experience that meets the needs of the guest
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias
- As a key carrier, exercise good judgment and implement all safe and secure training and processes
- All other duties based on business needs

We have some amazing training that will help build upon the skills you already have to to succeed as an Executive Team Leader of Assets Protection,but there are a few things you should have from the get-go:
- 4-year degree or equivalent experience
- Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements for the position
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong business acumen
- Comfortable dealing with and managing teams through ambiguity
- Comfortable managing conflict, leading and holding others accountable
- Ability to relate well with and interact professionally with all levels of the organization
- Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision making, financial and quantitative analysis
- Ability to relate well and interact professionally with all levels of an organization
- Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed
- Independently manage workload and prioritize tasks
